今日、tutoringを受けるための方法をネット（学校のウェブページ上で）で探していたら、今まで見たことのないページにたどり着いた。そこにはStudy Skills, Time Management, Choosing a Major, Professor/TA’s Office Hours, Couseling, Notetaking Techniques, Writing Techniques, Preparing for Exams, Study Places, Professor Reviewsなどの項目があった。ふと何気にStudy Skillsのページを開いてみると、そこには昨日私が受けた質問の一覧があった。そしてその下にはタイプ別にどのように勉強すればいいかが書かれていた。
私はKinesthetic LearnerとVisual Learnerだったので、ふむふむ、と読んでみた。（以下の通り）
Study Techniques for Visual Learners:
• sit in the first three rows during lecture to see better
• form study groups to review information visually with others
• take notes while listening to lectures
• rewrite notes to see them again
• use color-coded highlighting or note-taking systems
• use graph paper to create charts and diagrams that demonstrate key points
• find videos that review the information you are trying to learn
• reorganize your class material after lecture
• use visual analogies or metaphors to associate information
• actively review photographs or diagrams in your texts
• write explanations down
• write out flashcards to increase comprehension through sight
• draw out models and other charts to visually explain information
Study Techniques for Kinesthetic Learners:
• sit in the first three rows during lecture to maintain focus
• form study groups to learn material by working it out, discussing, teaching, etc.
• rewrite your notes to learn through tactile experience
• hold the book in your hands while reading (as opposed to laying it on the table)
• stand up, move about, and make gestures when giving explanations
• write while you are reading or talking
• make models that demonstrate the main concept
• spend extra time in any labs offered
• make flashcards for each step in a sequence and then arrange them in order
• use a computer to reinforce learning by using the sense of touch
こうやって見てみると、ほぼ実践していることばかりだった。私はとにかく本を読んでいるだけでは、頭に何も入ってこない人なのだ。読みながらちょこちょことまとめてみたり、図を書いてみたりしないと、内容がまったく頭に残らないのだ。そして私が昨日の結果どおり、やはり自分はKinesthetic Learnerかもしれない、と思ったのは、この部分。「stand up, move about, and make gestures when giving explanations」説明するときのみならず、私はものを覚えるときも歩き回って覚える人なのだ。とにかく動き回って手を動かして文字通り体で暗記しないとダメなのだ。
ほかにもいろいろとためになりそうなページがあるので、今から巡回してみることにする。
